Decide

Once in awhile something moves me enough to jot my thoughts and emotions down. Before I would often turn them into song lyrics. Now that I am not really active with music I find myself turning those thoughts into prose and poetry more often than not. I really don't consider myself a poet. I often don't understand it or have it resonate with me, but when it does, it is powerful and beautiful.
So, I am going to share something I wrote with you all. It is part of a challenge that I have put upon myself to go outside my comfort zone more this year. To spread more positive vibes instead of negative. I hope you enjoy and maybe find something within the words. If not, and you think it sucks, that's okay too.
Decide
By Thomas Washburn Jr.
When did we Decide to stop being human?
The Day we were blinded by our own point of view.
Let’s sit together and talk without judgment!
When did we Decide to forget the reasons we cared?
The Day we were blinded by our own point of view.
Let’s listen as we break bread together!
When did we Decide to throw away civil discussion?
The Day we were blinded by our own point of view.
Let’s take a breath and put aside all that divides us!
When did we Decide to let our differences define us?
The Day we were blinded by our own point of view.
Let’s shake hands so we may remember!
Only then, Only then, can we Decide to make the world better
Only then, Only then, can we Decide to become one
